Urban Tide, Hyatt Orlando's Newest Restaurant

After attending a long day of inspiring Leadership action at the Junior League Fall Leadership in Orlando, we had the privilege of dining at Hyatt Orlando's newest venture Urban Tide. When we visited, in December we were told that they would soon be premiering their new restaurant and we would have to come back to check it out. Check it out we did!

Our waiter Humberto was amazing, we explained to him that we had spaghetti brain and please bring forward the red wine in copious amounts. It was one of those evenings! I was really happy that I was at Urban Tide, because wine is something they do QUITE well. They had many selections by the glass, as well as an insane selection of bottle choices for us to choose from.

If you are conferencing in Orlando, its a short walk from the Orlando Convention Center and trust me, this is the way to end your day. I know that we are lucky, as we are conference nerds....especially when it comes to the Junior League...but conferences can be yawn fests. Having terrible conference food, we were HANGRY. Hungry, and a little angry at being hungry...but the food came out quick and each entree was better than the last. We are still talking about the au gratin potatoes!

My friend Amy and I dined on some of the new dishes that Urban Tide, happy to report that the staff and Chef Jared is still there, just shook it up a little from the old concept. Check out what we feasted on!

Asparagus and Sweet Corn Risotto | Mascarpone Cheese | Baby Tomatoes

Ceviche | Citrus Marinated Florida Sea Bass | Serrano Spiked Rock Shrimp

Loch Duart Salmon | Sustainable Scotland Loch Caught

New England Sea Scallops | Juicy and Creamy Texture |

Flash-Fried Brussels Sprouts | Aged Balsamic

Four Year Aged Cheddar Au Gratin Potatoes

A little info about the new restaurant: From Florida’s bountiful coast, chic coastal cuisine and the freshest seafood is served at Urban Tide.

Seasonal favorites are celebrated, and elevated with bold flavors served in a stylish setting. With its dark wood furnishings and modern décor, Urban Tide offers diners a quiet, understated elegance highlighted by picturesque views of the Grotto Pool.

Chef Jared Gross brings Florida’s local seafood flavors to life with his modern twist on coastal favorites. Pair lunch or dinner with a classic or our current take on favorite handcrafted cocktails, or select from a distinctive collection of craft beers and fine wines.

Fashion and Knowledge for the Super Bowl for the Modern Girl

Assumedly, I am a girl. But, when it comes to sports I know why my uncle is so happy to have me around at all times when watching sports. I don't know everything but I sure know enough to be welcomed to any sports event with boys. In fact, during college season I am normally the only lady present.  I learned from listening and being a fan, but what if you need a crash course?

Forget the chocolate-covered strawberry footballs – the best thing you can bring to a Super Bowl party is your arsenal of football knowledge. And since women represent over 45 percent of the NFL’s viewing audience, a new book from Vanessa-Franchesca "VF" Castro The Modern Girls’ Guide to the Gridiron needs to be in your arsenal. Her goal is to make it easier for women and girls to understand and relate to the sport they love.

This book is great for:
  • Decoding Sports Talk: Includes a glossary of football terms every fan should know
  • Any football fan wanting to learn about the world’s “manliest” sport and its histories, traditions and scandals through the eyes of a female reporter
  • Connecting with a sports-minded partner: Learning more about the sport that your significant other loves (TMGGTTG has been called “the best marriage book ever”)
  • The perfect guide for mothers trying to learn more about the sport as they support their sons and fathers trying to relate their love of the sport to their daughters

The 49th Super Bowl will take place on February 1. To celebrate, VF is kicking off a giveaway and blog tour for The Modern Girls’ Guide to the Gridiron, a comprehensive guide to the game from a woman’s point of view, written by sports journalist Vanessa-Franchesca “VF” Castro. Formerly a makeup artist, Vanessa also puts together Game Day Looks – both beauty and fashion – on her blog.

Vanessa took some time our of her busy schedule to give you some ideas on what to wear for the big game!

Seattle Seahawks: For the first look, I styled a pair of skinny jeans (which are a closet staple), and a neon green embellished blouse by 3:1 Phillip Lim, followed by a pair of navy blue espadrilles from Michael Kors. The second look is a little more fashion forward, but it's still a classic style. I paired a gorgeous blue ribbed knit sweater by Yves Saint Laurent Vintage with a playful bright green skater skirt by Go Jane. And for accessories, I paired a sparkly bib necklace by BaubleBar, with grey booties from Steve Madden, and then a matching grey Debutante clutch by my favorite, Henri Bendel.

New England Patriots: For the first look, I paired basic skinny jeans with a white tank top, and a red sweater by KAOS, with leopard booties by Ella Moss (similar), and a necklace by BaubleBar. For the second look, I styled the same skinny jeans with this white dolman sleeve sweater by Helmut Lang, with white booties (similar), and accessorized with a red Ralph Lauren scarf, and this "timeless" nautical-style watch by Daniel Wellington -- a perfect nod to New England style.  If you go with the basic colors of each franchise, your rooting interests will be easily differentiated, but the goal is to have fun -- both with your fashion choices, and during the game itself.

World Traveler Themed Bridal Shower

If you are just coming to the party (see what I did there) I am an event planner by simply trade. I LOVE throwing bashes!! I wish I could recreate my wedding every day! I laugh when people call me crafty, I am just a professional on Etsy and Pinterest and go from there. It is so much fun to plan something and have it come out of your head onto a party. When it was time to plan our favorite Megan's bridal shower, I was giddy.

She suggested a World Traveler theme, to go along with her honeymoon in England, France and Italy. So for a couple of weeks, her bridesmaids and her mom and I went to work. Here are some of the things we came up with! Hope you like them! The most fun was going thrifting for different pieces of china to fancy it up a little!!

That tea set? $7!!!

chalboard stickers and white chalk pen are my new BFF

This is my soon to famous vodka recipe!

London
London is Always A Good Idea Sign
London and Paris cupcake/finger sandwich toppers
London confetti-I used a 2"punch

Italian
Recipe Cards-she was wonderful, I sent her my recipe and she formatted it!

This was my only non home run-and in my defense it was midnight (and I was on bottle three) but I printed out this map and wrapped it around the C and threw a coat of Mod Podge on it. Let the record reflect T's are so much easier!
